Hello creatives! Today I come with a project of those quickies to finish in an afternoon. It is a T-shirt yarn rug for the bathroom. I've been looking for the ideal bath mat for a long time and I've finally decided that the best option (of course…) is to stop looking and make it myself.

I looked at myself and went over the entire web looking for the color I wanted (off-white, it wasn't that complicated…) and it turns out that it was closer than I thought, since they recently opened a Sacocharte store very close to where I live.

It is the first time that I have done an XL project, so I had to make the materials and utensils; a ball of cloth and an XL needle. This time I bought it from the number 12, because when I did the test I realized that it was better for my way of knitting, but the number 10 needle is also used a lot, or even 15 or 20.

It is knitted with the crochet technique. The biggest difference is the way of picking up the needle (in the style of "little boy picking up a spoon") since in the traditional way the hand ends up hurting from straining to pass the cotton rope (I know from experience ...).

The truth is that it is a material that is a pleasure to work with, you see how the carpet grows with each turn by leaps and bounds. In fact, I started with a pattern that was too open for a T-shirt bath mat (as seen in the photos) so I undid it completely without further ado and started over. Finally, I was improvising on the fly, alternating double crochets or double crochets with Puff Stitch (you can find demonstration videos of each type of stitch clicked on the colored letters). This is how the pattern was.

I have to admit that I have been more than satisfied with the result, and I already have a few more things in mind to amortize my XL needle (it is not worth using it only once ...). Some baskets for the bathroom, a magazine rack, baskets to store the wool… I'll take a few ideas from the Sacocharte Blog!
